    Printers’ Blue Chip future

OLDHAM-based Document Express is steaming ahead after a management buyout three years ago.

The printing services company, which has the concession to distribute Xerox equipment across Greater Manchester is now poised to break through the £10m sales mark, and has become a leader in the UK market.

Since the MBO, led by managing director Pete Bedford, the company, set up in 1996, has gone from strength to strength.

With a staff of 42, it services Blue Chip names as well as SMEs and last year launched Express Print Solutions, providing “heavy duty” high volume digital colour and black and white print services, enabling companies to do their own brochures or magazines in-house.

In April EPS scooped £500,000 of new business when it exhibited at the North Print trade show in Harrogate, and since then sales in this division have reached almost £1m.

The company prides itself on offering a consultative service, auditing business needs and helping customers with management systems, business efficiency, cost reduction and effective communications, and it offers an extensive range of office and production imaging equipment and office supplies.

Mr Bedford said: “We put a lot of our success down to our work ethic – work hard play hard.  We have an excellent team of extremely-committed individuals at Document Express and they have helped the business become what it is today.

“This is a competitive industry and to have progressed so far so quickly is quite an achievement. We cannot afford to rest on our laurels though, and have an ambitious business plan in place to take us into next year.”.
