Multi-function printers are becoming the norm
AUG, 2005: Businesses large and small are changing their habits when it comes to printing, photocopying and faxing, with many choosing to carry out these functions from one system instead of multiple ones.

This is the message from Fuji Xerox Printers, which is finding that more and more of its customers are no longer interested in buying separate systems to carry out daily tasks.

Paul Harman, the operations manager for Fuji Xerox in Australia and New Zealand, said that this trend has been happening for the last 18 months and is becoming more common all of the time.

“We are seeing the demands of customers increase to a point where fax, print, copy and scan capabilities are seen as business fundamentals for running their operations effectively. IT managers are especially impressed with multi-functional systems that can do all of these things, and we expect this interest to continue growing over the next two years.

“Of course one of the advantages of an all in one system is that it means you do not need to have four different manuals now to understand how to operate the different machines. You only need one manual now and the time spent on management is greatly reduced too, of course.”

Harman said that Fuji Xerox is already responding to these demands, and this is only the tip of the iceberg, with the desire for colour printers being another area of high interest for all organisations.

In response to these needs, Fuji Xerox has launched the WorkCentre entry-level 220 and fully featured 222 and 228 machines for larger organisations, to provide the functionality of white printing, colour scanning, copying, faxing and emailing capabilities all in one machine.

The series also offer a print speed of 20 pages per minute and a first page out time of less than 13 seconds.
