    Foxconn denies takeover of HP India factory

    Foxconn Electronics (the
    registered trade name of Hon Hai Precision Industry), the largest
    privately owned company in Taiwan and the world’s second-largest EMS
    provider, denies a report of emsnow.com stating that it has acquired a
    Hewlett-Packard (HP) factory in India and has taken over all of the
    factory orders.

    The August 25 emsnow report indicated that Foxconn had acquired HP’s
    India production factory. Though Foxconn denied it acquired the Indian
    factory, it did confirm that it has taken over HP’s plant in Australia.
    The company declined to comment on customer orders, citing customer
    confidentiality.

    The Chinese-language United Daily News (UDN) on September 12 reported
    that HP is gearing up to strengthen its market share in the
    Asia-Pacific region, by aggressively promoting entry-level PCs in
    India. Foxconn, HP’s contract maker, and motherboard supplier
    Micro-Star International (MSI) are expected to be major beneficiaries
    starting from the fourth quarter of this year, the paper indicated
