HP, Tech Data to open ILM centre
    JAN 2006
HP is to open its first Information Technology Life Cycle Management (ILM) centre in the Middle East in partnership with Tech Data.
The company has partnered with Tech Data’s recently-laun- ched enterprise solutions division Azlan, to open the centre in Dubai Internet City (DIC).
The two companies will showcase a range of ILM solutions at the centre that are designed to tackle data management and to capture, manage, retain and deliver data information.
“As the only centre of its kind in the region, we are pleased to be at the forefront of innovative technology along with our partner Tech Data,” said Ashraf He-lmy, StorageWorks product marketing manager of HP Middle East.
“Our solutions are flexible and can be configured to meet the requirements of the customer, which is a unique selling point of the centre,” he added
“The benefits of HP’s ILM are manifold and include reduction of costs, streamlined processes and greater control in escalating volumes of information,” he went on to add.
The solutions on offer at the ILM centre will include file arc- hiving, e-mail archiving, data protection and multi-tier architectural solutions. Experts at the centre will help IT managers to develop an ILM strategy within their organisations and will guide them in the best way to make cost savings based on this strategy.
“In today’s information-based economy, HP understands the importance of a well-executed ILM strategy to a company’s success, through both our work with clients and our own experience,” continued Helmy.
“It’s not just about how information is stored; it’s about putting information to work. At HP we lead the way with a comprehensive suite of ILM solutions that will demonstrate to customers how an organisation can benefit from our bilingual solutions, ” he added.
Azlan is a distributor of networking, servers, storage and enterprise software and services in the Middle East, including products from HP, Cisco Systems and Oracle.
The forming of the organisation combines the two business entities of TD Midrange and Azlan, which Tech Data acquired in 2003.
“We are pleased to be partnering with HP to deliver complete solutions,” said Azlan’s Middle East enterprise director Quentin Cornelius.
