HP offers carbon offset on printers
    February
2008 – Blackburn (VIC), Australia HP Australia has launched a carbon
offset programme for buyers of laserjet printers. The programme is
running until 30 April and allows buyers to offset the estimated carbon
emissions of the printer they buy over a five-year lifespan. After
purchasing their printer, users then have to submit a claim form to HP
who will then purchase the carbon credits from Climate Positive, a
provider of tax deductible carbon offsets in Australia. Users will then
receive a certificate to show that they are participating in the
scheme.A typical monochrome laser printer is estimated to produce
around two tonnes of CO² over five years, meaning the scheme could cost
HP in the region of $40 per printer sold under the programme
