60% of employees make personal use of office printer, survey finds
The majority of Canadians who work in offices abuse the workplace printer, according to a survey released Monday that found employees are churning out personal e-mails, colour photographs and even resumés at work.Sixty per cent of employees reported sending personal print jobs amid office memos and expense reports, according to the survey conducted by Angus Reid Strategies for Samsung Electronics.People most likely to abuse the office printer were those who could best afford the pricey printer ink, Angus Reid said. Seventy-six per cent of respondents who lived in households that earned an annual salary of $100,000 or more said they used the printer for personal purposes.

Other findings in the survey revealed:
        * 59 per cent of employees print out maps and directions at work.
        * 40 per cent print out online purchase and bill payment confirmations.
        * 39 per cent use the printer for personal e-mails.
        * 39 per cent print news articles.
        * 20 per cent print colour photographs.
        * 1 per cent reported printing off their resumés.
The survey, which included 1,004 Canadians, was conducted from May 1-5 and is considered accurate within plus or minus 3.1 per cent, 19 times out of 20.
