    Goodwill now takes computers
Getting rid of that cracked computer monitor is now more convenient.
    Area
Goodwill Industries International donation centers last week began
accepting used computers and computer equipment through a partnership
with Dell-Reconnect recycling program. The Reconnect program is a free
drop-off service that offers a responsible way to recycle used
computers and equipment. The Dell-Reconnect program began in 2004 and
was expanded this week to many Wisconsin Goodwill donation centers,
including seven donation centers in south-central Wisconsin. The new
program allows customers to donate most used computer equipment,
including computers, monitors, scanners, printers, laser and ink jet
cartridges, hard drives, speakers and power cords. If customers donate
computer software, they are asked to include the software license with
the donation.”We’re very excited about it. It’s going to be a great
program,” said Sandy Swanson, store manager for the Goodwill on East
    Springs Drive.

Prior to this, Goodwill stores did not accept
donations of computers and computer equipment.”The beauty of the
program is that we will take any brand of computer in any condition,”
said Maureen Roche, director of marketing and development for Goodwill
Industries of South Central Wisconsin. “It is an ongoing program and
not just once a year,” Roche said. Customers will be able to donate
computers any time the donation center is open.Customers can still
receive a donation receipt for tax purposes, Roche said.

    WHERE TO GO
    Hours
and locations of the local donation centers can be found on the
Goodwill Web site at http://www.goodwillscwi.org. For a complete list of
