Not All Ink Cartridges Created Equal Getting
The Most For Your Money When It Comes To Ink

    Printer
ink can cost you 10 times what you pay for the printer itself. But how
can you determine those costs before buying a printer?Steve Pociask is
with the American Consumer Institute and he’s on a war path about the
high price of printer ink. Half of their profits are from ink.Printer
ink has been called black gold, the most expensive liquid on earth.
Pociask said the price per ounce is higher than Chanel #5 or Dom
Perignon Champagne and he blames manufacturers for shorting consumers.
He claims the manufacturers don’t fill the cartridges up completely,
which means ink runs out more often.

    Many printers are giveaways
but the ink cartridges can run you $50 and $60 each. And good luck
finding out how much ink you’ll get. There’s no information on the
boxes, no information on the printers and no information on the
cartridges themselves. In order to see how far the ink would last on
several brands, NewsChannel5 ran a test by printing pages until the
cartridge ran out of ink. Canon’s cartridge lasted 129 pages, Lexmark
lasted longer at 163 pages and the winner was the HP, which lasted 186
    pages.

“Quality Logic” does its own tests and determines cost per
printed page. In its tests, the Lexmark x6650 cost 26 cents a page,
which is $1170 over three years on average. Compare that to the Kodak
ESP-5 which is just $.068 a page or $360 over three years. Kodak says
their ink goes further setting up a Web site so you can compare. But you
can cut costs on your own by ignoring those low ink warnings.Instead of
buying new, try refilling your cartridge. Many stores offer the refill
service, like Walgreens and Costco. And typically it cuts the costs by
more than half. You can also go to The American Consumer and Consumer
    Calculator to compare ink costs.

    Lexmark Statement Lexmark is
quite transparent on ink yields and we adhere to ISO ink standards.
Information on our devices and ink page yields can be found here:
Lexmark Further, we announced the industry’s lowest black ink cost
earlier this year: Lexmark Pulled directly from that release is this
statement – Lexmark’s new 105XL black ink cartridge offers businesses a
penny-per-page option for mono printing, which equals bottom-line
savings potential for small businesses that typically print
black-and-white documents. With a suggested retail selling price of
$4.99, businesses can buy high-yield black cartridge replacements that
deliver the lowest black printing cost in the industry and long-life ink
performance. Jerry Grasso Corporate Communications Lexmark
