    Canon mulls making printers in mainland
    China

    Mar.2010 – Canon Inc, the biggest
    camera maker in the world, may set up printer manufacturing plants on
    the Chinese mainland, the Shanghai Daily reported yesterday, citing
    Managing Director Katsuichi Shimizu as saying.Sales of inkjet printers,
    the company’s second core product after digital cameras, are expected to
    rise by 10% this year in China.

    Canon currently produces
    printers in Thailand and Vietnam.

    The company has predicted that
    China will surpass the U.S. to become the largest camera market as early
    as 2015. Camera sales in China will grow 10% this year and camera sales
    worldwide will grow 6.9% to 25.7 million units, the company said.Canon
    hopes to see its annual revenue in the country grow to US$10 billion by
    the end of 2017.
