POLICE LOOKING FOR TONER THIEVES TARGETING THE ATLANTA AREA

The search is on for several thieves who’ve targeted office supply stores all over metro Atlanta.
Investigator James Barnett with the Atlanta Police Department tells WSB they began investigating after getting calls from loss prevention officers from Office Depot, Office Max, and Staples about large amounts of ink cartridges and toners being stolen.  Three or four well-dressed Hispanic men would hit stores in Clayton, Cobb, and DeKalb counties and the cities of Atlanta, Douglasville, Fayetteville, McDonough, and Roswell.”Basically, distracting employees, collecting a bunch of toner cartridges, putting them in boxes that they have at the Office Depot and taking them out,” said Barnett. The suspects, who are in and out of the store in less than ten minutes, were seen leaving in a newer model white Dodge Caravan, possibly a rental, and have gotten away with some $16,000 worth of merchandise. The group is believed to based out of Florida.
