ATLANTA 2004– LD232c and LD238c combine print/copy/scan/fax with network scanning and finishing
Lanier Worldwide, Inc. Today launched the Lanier LD232c and LD238c Digital Multifunction Products (MFPs), two systems that deliver 32 or 38 pages per minute in monochrome, and up to 24 or 28 pages per minute in color with image quality up to 1200 dpi. Both MFPs offer digital copying, network printing, scanning, and optional faxing, as well as more advanced Document distribution and management tools, such as network scanning with email integration. Both systems will be available immediately.
“High-quality color is quickly becoming a standard element in a vast majority of business communications, whether electronic or paper-based,” said Dominic Pontrelli, vice president of Marketing for Lanier. “When today’s office users create presentations and proposals, or print out HTML email and Web site content, they need attractive, business-quality color. Of course, they still create a wide range of conventional black-and-white documents, as well as have access to all the capabilities of a multifunction solution.
“With the new Lanier LD232c and LD238c, users can choose a single, reliable system that can produce, finish, and distribute color documents, as well as provide the fast output speed, high ease of use, and overall affordability of a dedicated monochrome MFP.”
Many standard features of the LD232c and LD238c are geared toward office environments that create a diverse assortment of color and monochrome documents. For example, automatic color selection (ACS) detects mixed originals prior to copying or printing, and automatically optimizes output speed and toner consumption for each individual color or monochrome page.
“ACS is an important feature, because it prevents expensive mistakes,” Pontrelli said. “For example, these systems would not allow users to print a black-and-white document in full-color mode. ACS helps reduce operating costs for documents that incorporate color and monochrome pages. And it enables accurate tracking of color output for cost accounting.”
Both systems come standard with the software necessary for TWAIN-compliant network scanning in monochrome and full color, including scan-to-email and scan-to-folder. Scan-to-email converts scanned originals to PDF or TIFF files, then sends them as email attachments, while scan-to-folder sends the converted files to a designated folder or FTP site for content management and archiving. The systems also offer LDAP compatibility, enabling them to integrate with a corporate email address book.
Fax options include conventional 33.6 kbps transmission, plus serverless Internet faxing and paperless faxing. Serverless faxing converts scanned fax documents — including full-color originals — to TIFF or PDF files and sends them as email attachments. No separate email server is required. Paperless faxing allows users to send documents over the network (LAN or WAN) to the LD232c or LD238c, just as they would to a desktop network printer, then select a fax number and have the MFP transmit the file. With paperless reception, incoming faxes are distributed to an email address or network folder.
Both finishers include single or multi-position stapling and hole-punching. Users can also select the booklet finisher, which combines folding and saddle-stitching to assemble color and monochrome output into ready-to-publish booklets.
