Headline: Xerox hails $1.3 million counterfeit bust
April 2004 – Stamford (CT): Following a global operation initiated by Xerox, counterfeit colour laser printer toner cartridges worth more than $1.3 million have been seized in the past two weeks.
In total 7,200 cartridges intended for use in Xerox’s Phaser 780 colour laser printers have been seized or quarantined by customs and excise officials in several countries.
Xerox’s corporate security investigator George Parry said: “Xerox takes an aggressive stance against counterfeiters and is dedicated to ensuring and protecting customer value through ongoing efforts to identify, investigate, and prosecute counterfeit operations. These latest seizures and quarantines underscore the efforts we take, on a worldwide basis, to protect our customers from counterfeiters.”
