Canon’s New imageWARE Document Composer Software Increases Central Reprographics Department Productivity
Canon U.S.A., Inc. Software Enables Web-based Print Job Submission and Monitoring; Now Departmental Users Can Leverage Remote or Centralized Printing Facilities

Canon U.S.A., Inc., a subsidiary of

Canon Inc. has announced a new addition to its imageWARE suite of software products that transform the challenges of hard-copy document distribution into opportunities to save time and money. Canon’s new imageWARE Document Composer is a user-friendly dynamic publishing server compatible with select Canon imageRUNNER® devices. It offers office and CRD users easy manipulation, combination, and advanced finishing of multiple hard copy and digital documents, and the printing of small quantity jobs in- house.

“imageWARE Document Composer is a good example of Canon’s commitment to delivering seamlessly integrated and scaleable solutions for managing the entire document lifecycle, from document capture and creation to document management and output,” said Dennis Amorosano, director and assistant general manager, Integrated Business Systems Division for Canon U.S.A. “imageWARE Document Composer is a compelling new software offering based upon its ability to support the document creation, enterprise printing, and document management requirements found in today’s marketplace.” Amorosano added.

imageWARE Document Composer is designed to streamline the production of professional-quality publications, especially those that require multiple inserts and content types, such as product manuals, office color quality brochures, monthly reports, and general purpose booklets. imageWARE Document Composer’s job management functions include job-level operations, such as pause, resume, and delete, job monitoring, and job template management.

As a component of Canon’s imageWARE software suite, Document Composer utilizes the robust back-end database storage of the imageWARE Document Manager for archival and retrieval of digital print-ready documents. imageWARE Document Composer comes with a simplified toolset for applying page imposition to a variety of print jobs. End users can edit and manipulate chapters and pages. Easy page renumbering is also available.

As a result of the tight integration between imageRUNNER devices and Document Composer, supported finishing features(a) include: simplex, duplex or booklet mode printing; stapling and subset stapling by chapter; hole punching; Z-folding; saddle-stitching, and trimming. Users can preview print settings, and see exactly how their documents will print with the applied settings.

imageWARE Document Composer requires an IBM- compatible PC/AT device running Windows NT 4.0 Server Service Pack 5, Windows 2000 Server Service Pack 2, or Windows XP Professional. imageWARE Document Composer supports Canon PCL 5c, 5e and 6.0 drivers and Adobe PDF file formats. The dynamic publishing features of imageWARE Document Composer are supported by most of Canon’s imageRUNNER product line, ranging from the 20 page-per-minute imageRUNNER 2010F through the 105-ppm imageRUNNER 105. imageWARE Document Composer also requires either the Workgroup Edition or Enterprise Edition of the imageWARE Document Manager 2002 R3.1. The imageWARE Web Document Server 2002 R3.1 is also required.
