Meet the Fast 100: Office supplies company eyes larger prospects

IQ Office Products — one of the fastest-growing businesses in Houston— aims to be more than a typical office supplies company.
    By Olivia Pulsinelli

“We have invested in technology which allows businesses to truly work with a one-stop shop,” the company told the Houston Business Journal. “Whether it is office products, janitorial supplies, furniture, custom-printed goods, promotional and apparel goods, or technology items, customers can order everything through one Web portal and shopping cart.”

That effort has paid off, as the 7-year-old company has ranked on HBJ’s Fast 100 List for the second year in a row. It ranked No. 20 last year, but it’s still a secret where it ranks this year.

IQ Office Products has grown from a five-person operation, according to its website, to 15 employees today. And it plans to grow further in the next six to 12 months, focusing on candidates with “proven performance,” the company told HBJ.

“We have started to target a larger prospect than we have in the past,” the company told HBJ. “With this, we needed to adjust the candidate and type of person we were hiring.”

Led by co-owners Bryan Freund and Ryan Puccinelli, IQ Office Products now has offices in Houston and Scottsdale, Arizona, as well as more than 40 distribution centers.

For the next four weeks, HBJ will introduce you to the Houston area’s 100 fastest-growing private companies based on revenue growth from 2011 to 2013 — culminating in our Houston Fast 100 Awards. Our blogs will present the companies in random order, and the rankings and revenue growth for each company will be revealed at our event on Sept. 11 at the Hilton Americas Hotel. The rankings will also be listed in a special section of the Houston Business Journal's Sept. 12 weekly edition. Click here to subscribe.
