To protect its customers from potentially harmful counterfeit products, printer manufacturer Brother will update the protective holograms on its ink and toner cartridges this year.
The updated holograms will appear on all Brother Original ink cartridges, ink bottles, toner cartridges and drum units. The updated hologram, which links directly to an official authentication website, ensures customers can easily distinguish genuine Brother products from counterfeits. The new design should also help minimize the risk of scammers reusing real holograms on counterfeit products.
Isao Noji, Managing Director of Brother International Europe LTD, said: “Protecting our customers is of the utmost importance to everyone at Brother and we hope this updated hologram will give customers peace of mind and ensure they are able to identify whether the products are genuine or not. When designing our consumables, we not only make sure they are designed to perform optimally with our hardware, but also that they are safe, which is not guaranteed when buying counterfeit products.”
Adds Noji: “Using counterfeit cartridges can damage your Brother machine and affect its efficiency, reliability, and longevity, so it’s important that we do everything we can to help our customers identify if a cartridge is a genuine one is a Brother original. In addition to an update of the authentication link, the new holograms have an adapted design. We ask our customers to pay attention to this and, if in doubt, to check whether it is an original product”. The new hologram is scheduled to be seen on Brother genuine products from June.
