Against the backdrop of the war in Ukraine, paper manufacturer The Navigator Company has seen energy-related costs escalate. The company is now responding with an energy surcharge.

The Navigator Company introduces an energy surcharge of 105 euros/tonne on all paper and packaging products. This surcharge applies from April 1st until further notice and will be included in the invoice amount. It is valid for Europe, the Middle East and Africa; for the USA the surcharge is 120 euros/ton. The Russian-Ukrainian conflict has further exacerbated the “already unstable and unpredictable macroeconomic dynamics,” according to The Navigator Company. Given the international sanctions against Russia and Europe’s heavy dependence on its gas supplies, the current geopolitical situation has caused energy prices to increase very rapidly and is expected to continue to do so. Navigator is directly affected as a buyer of electricity,
“Navigator believes that this extraordinary measure is imperative to support the long-term sustainability of the business model and the entire supply chain,” the company said. The development of energy prices will be closely monitored and the surcharge will be adjusted if the situation requires it. The company expresses its sincere hope “that this unfortunate situation will end soon.”
