Headline: Canon invests in Hanoi
Canon is investing $100 million on a new 500,000 sq ft low-cost inkjet printer plant in Hanoi, Vietnam.
The new factory will employ 6,500 workers and will double the firm’s monthly production capacity for inkjet printers in Vietnam to around 1.2 million units by 2006.
Canon is planning to almost double its annual worldwide output to 20 million units in 2005.
The company’s first inkjet printer factory in Vietnam was unveiled in Hanoi’s Thang Long industrial park in mid 2001 at a cost of $25 million.
