Canon Enhances Personal Copier Product Line with PC150 Portable, Briefcase-Size Copier Ideal for Off-Site Business Copying NeedsLAKE SUCCESS, N.Y.Sept. 2004– Canon U.S.A., Inc., the nation's market share brand leader in black-and-white and color laser copier/printer solutions(1) , today announced the introduction of the new PC150, a personal copier designed for small office/home office (SOHO) users, as well as business travelers. Its portability, ease of set-up, and trim, stylish design make it ideal for use in space-constrained offices and off-site venues.
"The PC150 offers tremendous flexibility for the user whose business takes them everywhere," said Yusuke Mizoguchi, assistant director, SOHO Workgroup Systems, Imaging Systems Group, Canon U.S.A "Whether it's in one's home, at the office or at an off-site event such as a trade show or convention, the PC 150 delivers the features and business quality output that our customers want from a copier, with the additional convenience of making copies whenever and wherever they want."
The PC 150 weighs less than 19 pounds and folds into a sleek, compact shape resembling a briefcase. With no warm-up time required, the Canon PC150 has a copy speed of 4 copies-per-minute (cpm) for letter-size paper and can make up to 9 copies at a time with its 50-sheet stack tray that accepts postcard to letter-size paper. Like all Canon Personal Copiers, the new PC150 offers virtually maintenance-free operation with Canon's exclusive Single Cartridge System. The revolutionary Single Cartridge System contains the drum, development unit and toner, offering virtually maintenance-free performance at just pennies-per-copy, all in one easy to replace cartridge. The copier's fold-able design and pop-up handle give the PC150 true portable convenience.
The PC150 personal copier also offers tremendous versatility, copying onto a variety of papers, including stationary, postcards, colored paper, transparencies and labels. Copy quality is exceptional with a choice of automatic or manual exposure and automatic shut-off.
The PC150 includes Canon's patented RAPID Fusing System, which provides instant warm-up and eliminates long waiting time. Auto shut-off is another built-in energy saving feature designed to automatically turn off the copier after approximately 5 1/2 minutes of non-use. These energy-saving attributes enable the PC150 to be ENERGY STAR® qualified.
The PC150 will be available at an estimated street price of $149. The devices will begin shipping to retailers in September 2004 with a limited one-year warranty.
The PC150 meets the ENERGY STAR® guidelines set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Department of Energy. The EPA established the International ENERGY STAR® Program in 1992 to help prevent global warming by promoting the development and use of energy-efficient products.
Canon U.S.A. has won the ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year – Product Manufacturers Award the past three years in a row (2001, 2002 and 2003). Over 350 Canon products have been qualified under the ENERGY STAR Program, more than any other business machine manufacturer.
