Sales boost at Canon
April 2005 – Tokyo (JPN): Canon has
reported Q1 net sales of ¥843.4 billion ($7.882 billion), a year-on-year
increase of 5.7 per cent.
Net income came in at ¥93.1 billion, a y-o-y
increase of 10.4 per cent.
Senior managing director and group executive
for finance and accounting at Canon, Toshizo Tanaka, said: “The increase in net
sales was due to strong sales of colour copying machines and colour laser beam
printers as demand for office colour has increased, and stable sales of digital
cameras.
“Although a difficult environment is expected in the second
quarter and for the full year, we expect to exceed our sales and profit results
of last year and achieve our sixth consecutive year of sales and profit growth,”
he added.
