Recycling
initiative results in 100-percent reuse of collected Toshiba consumable
imaging productsToshiba America Business Solutions Inc. (TABS) has
announced a partnership with Close the Loop Inc. (CtL) to create the
“Zero Waste to Landfill” recycling program. Scheduled to launch on
October 1, this program is TABS’ most comprehensive environmental
sustainability initiative to date, allowing for the 100-percent
recycling of collected consumable supplies. CtL’s customized
collection program for TABS provides the company with recyclable
collection boxes and supplies, freight, transportation, and recycling
services for its toner bottles, laser cartridges, drum units, toner
bags, and other bulk imaging consumables.
“Toshiba’s
partnership with Close the Loop furthers the company’s commitment
towards serving as responsible stewards of the environment by focusing
on the three R’s – Reduce, Reuse, Recycle,” said Tom Walter, Director,
Aftermarket Sales, Marketing and Operations for TABS. “One of the most
rewarding results of this recycling initiative is that 100-percent of
consumable imaging products collected will never make it to a landfill,
ensuring minimal negative impact on the environment.”
Traditionally
difficult to process, imaging supplies require specialized equipment in
order to recycle them. CtL has patented four different processes for
recycling imaging supplies, resulting in a zero-waste solution without
using thermal destruction which yields the maximum amount of reusable
materials. These hard-to-process mixed plastics, toner powder, inks
and sponges are used in the company’s patented composite eLumber
product, thereby reusing previously unusable materials, preventing them
from ending up in landfills or being incinerated.
Registration
for this recycling program will begin October 1, 2008 with the program
launch. In support of the program, TABS is creating a web portal
interface for its dealers and customers in order to participate. For

project, visit http://www.copiers.toshiba.com on or after October 1.
