Canon U.S.A., Inc., a subsidiary of Canon Inc. and the nation’s market share brand leader in black-and-white and color laser copier/printer solutions, has been distinguished as this year’s Certification Achievement Award winner by The Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA). Presented to Canon during the CompTIA CDIA+â„¢ annual awards event at the AIIM Expo in New York City, the award formally recognizes Canon U.S.A.’s CDIA+ Education Program, and illustrates Canon’s strong advocacy to develop certified sales professionals.

The Certification Achievement Award, Strongest Advocate for the CDIA+ Program, represents companies and individuals that have demonstrated a commitment to furthering the application of document imaging through an adherence to best practices and industry standards.

”It is an honor for Canon to–once again–be recognized as a leading supporter of CompTIA CDIA+ certification,” said Mitch Bardwell, director and assistant general manager, Sales Training Division, Canon U.S.A., Inc. “CDIA+ certification is an internationally recognized credential acknowledging a sales person’s ability to analyze business processes and design appropriate document imaging solutions.”

The achievement award, announced at the AIIM (The Association for Information and Image Management) Exposition & Conference in New York, recognizes “Canon’s commitment to the profession across the industry by increasing the awareness and value of the CompTIA CDIA+ certification throughout third-party organizations, allowing for more professionals to become CDIA+ certified over the past 12 months.” Canon’s program is open to sales professionals at Canon and its authorized dealers.

CompTIA CDIA+ certification is a global standard of competency in the document imaging industry. This vendor-neutral certification validates an imaging professional’s level of expertise in best practices used to plan, design, and implement a document imaging system. Leading hardware and software companies, as well as distributors, dealers, value-added resellers, and service providers, require or recommend their personnel be CDIA+ certified.

”When a Canon sales professional articulates the value of the CompTIA CDIA+ credential to a prospect it can become a significant differentiator in a highly competitive market,” said Mr. Bardwell. “Canon’s CDIA+ Education Program acts–in a sense–as a ‘turnkey’ solution, by saving the channel significant time and resources in helping their representatives to achieve certification. It is just one part of our overall sales training commitment to the multiple sales channels that sell Canon’s line of office imaging equipment.”

The Canon CDIA+ Education Program includes three training courses complete with assessments, coaching, recognition and tracking. Tested and refined by Canon Sales Training Division, the program has helped more than 300 Canon employees and sales professionals at the company’s dealers achieve CDIA+ certification in just four years. Canon boasts the largest number of CDIA+ certified sales professionals in the digital imaging industry.

”In order to achieve CompTIA CDIA+ certification, students must enroll in a multi-event, study and discussion-oriented program offered by Canon. The program, designed with the most up-to-date and relevant information possible, leads our sales people from imaging ‘101’ to ultimately passing the exam,” added Mr. Bardwell. “Our program is revised continuously to ensure that we are teaching the most current and relevant information available.”

The CompTIA CDIA+ exam tests knowledge mastery of scanning, storing and output of color documents for state of the art technology and best global practices for system design and implementation. More than 4,000 people worldwide have earned CDIA+ certification.
