iGen3 Digital Press Becoming a Force Worldwide
Printers Worldwide Choose Xerox iGen3 Presses to Expand Their Businesses, Grow Profits, Meet Customer Demand. “The Xerox iGen3 is simply the best digital production machine on the market today.”

ROCHESTER, NY, May , 2005 – Xerox Corporation’s production customers around the world are adding clients, increasing print volume and boosting revenue with Xerox iGen3â„¢ Digital Production Presses. These customers are producing millions of full-color pages of personalized marketing materials, direct mail pieces, short-run books and more.
“The Xerox iGen3 is simply the best digital production machine on the market today,” said Rob Galarneau, co-owner of Swarm Enterprises, a full-service commercial print shop in Edmonton, Alberta. “We plan to triple our digital color revenue within six months.”

Swarm Enterprises is printing 500,000 pages monthly on its iGen3 press, the first installed in Edmonton. The company is producing a variety of promotional pieces, including color recipe cards for a national retail chain. Using the iGen3 press and a digital workflow with a Xerox FreeFlowâ„¢ DocuSP controller, which sets up and manages the print files through the printing process, Swarm completed a 9,000-card order in less than four hours, delivering the colorful cards to the client the very same day. In addition to printing sales and marketing materials, Swarm plans to use the Xerox iGen3 to produce short-run books.

“Print providers everywhere are discovering how the iGen3 press can revolutionize their businesses,” said Quincy Allen, president, Xerox Production Systems Group. “Digital technology and the versatility of the iGen3 press change the way these companies do business with their clients, transforming them from printers to partners.”

    United States
PK Graphics, a Laurel, Md., printing company, said it is using the iGen3 press to grow its business and have the ability to print on the largest and widest variety of paper sizes in the industry. This allows PK Graphics to now produce high-quality brochures, individualized sell sheets, postcards, and marketing collaterals for its clients. The company also has an HP 3050, but it added the Xerox iGen3 to meet growing customer demand for full-color digital printing. The iGen3 press is producing three times the volume as the HP product, and in just five months 4 million pages have been printed.

“We definitely made the right decision installing the iGen3 press. Its image quality rivals offset printing, and it gives us more opportunities to generate revenue and satisfy our clients,” said Philip Katz, owner, PK Graphics. The company also chose the Xerox iGen3 for its speed and minimal need for service calls.

    W. A. Wilde Company, New England’s largest direct marketing and fulfillment solutions provider, recently installed two Xerox iGen3 presses, and together they are averaging 1.2 million pages a month. Wilde is using the iGen3 presses to print high-quality color, customized on-demand direct marketing campaigns. According to the company, these jobs can now be produced faster, and with customer response rates often five times higher than the industry-average rates.

“The installation of these state-of-the-art digital printers is a major milestone for Wilde, helping to further distinguish our company as a true leader in direct marketing and fulfillment,” said Tom Wilde, chief executive officer, W. A. Wilde Company.

    Mexico
Gráficas Corona, a commercial printer in Mexico City, installed the country’s first iGen3 press to complement its offset printing technology. In almost two months the company has printed 800,000 full-color pages. Gráficas Corona’s main customers, which include liquor companies and retail stores, demand high-quality personalized printing with tight turnaround times.

    Brazil
RR Donnelley Moore has acquired an iGen3 press in its book-producing unit in Tamboré, in the state of São Paulo, where it is using the digital press for print-on-demand, full-color books and to meet market demand for shorter runs. Total print production at the Tamboré site, for all products including the Xerox iGen3, is 10 million pages a month.

“Our goal is to provide customers with the largest range of applications in digital technology and at the same quality as offset printing,” said Luis Alberto Shaffer, the company’s industrial manager.

The CTIS Group, an information technology pioneer in Brazil, has installed an iGen3 press to enhance its color and personalized printing capabilities. The equipment is being operated in CTIS’ Printing Center in Brasília, where the company produces personalized jobs such as telephone bills, promotional leaflets and magazines.

“The Xerox iGen3 will certainly lead to an increase in our company’s profitability,” said Omar Cherulli, executive manager, CTIS Printing Center. Entirely equipped with Xerox products, the center produces about 80 million documents a month for such clients as Brasil Telecom, Itaú Bank, and government customers.

    Africa
Ince (Pty) Ltd., a leading South African commercial printer and corporate communications company, has bought the first iGen3 press in Africa after evaluating the worldwide market for digital production solutions. “Our customers want communication partners,” said Russell Parker, divisional managing director of digital, direct mail and security printing at Ince. “The days of simply fulfilling a commodity print order are gone.”

According to Parker, the Johannesburg-based company expects to expand its digital color business, especially personalized, one-to-one communications. Ince also projects the iGen3 press will expand Ince’s business into retail direct-mail pieces and loyalty program communications.

Burlington Dataprint, one of the oldest and most successful commercial printers in Gauteng Province, South Africa, also purchased an iGen3 press, complementing the company’s offset technology and transforming it into a complete print provider.

“We need to provide a faster service to our clients, particularly those requiring short runs and faster turnaround times,” said Rory Flanagan, managing director of Burlington Dataprint. “We recognized the Xerox iGen3 press as key to developing a new digital business opportunity.”

    Israel
Elinir Press recently installed the first iGen3 press in Israel. One of the leading digital quick printers in the country, Elinir Press chose the iGen3 press for its speed, image quality and flexibility printing on a wide variety of papers. The company, located in Tel Aviv, expects to grow its print-on-demand and variable-information printing business with the Xerox iGen3 press.

“I view digital printing as ‘smart printing’ and see a sweeping transformation away from traditional offset printing,” said Eli Mizrahi, founder, Elinir Press.
