    <FONT color=blue size=4>International Paper Ranks No. 1 in Forest and Paper Products On FORTUNE¡¦s List of America¡¦s Most Admired Companies <BR></FONT><PRE><FONT face=Arial color=blue size=3>STAMFORD, Conn. ¡V International Paper (NYSE: IP) today announced that FORTUNE magazine
    has named IP the No. 1 company for the Forest and Paper Products sector in its annual report of ¡§America¡¦s Most
    Admired Companies,¡¨ marking the second year IP has topped the industry in the independent ranking.
    The survey assessed companies on eight key attributes of reputation: innovativeness, employee talent, use of
    corporate assets, social responsibility, quality of management, financial soundness, long-term investment value
    and quality of products and services.
    The Most Admired survey was conducted by an independent management consulting firm on behalf of
    FORTUNE. The firm took the 10 largest companies by revenue in 64 industries and surveyed 10,000
    executives, directors and securities analysts, who rated the companies in their own industries using the
    eight criteria.
    ¡§This is great recognition for the talents of the entire International Paper team and all the good work they
