Lexmark urges Australians to rethink their ink .

Sydney April 2005 – Lexmark tripled its cartridge recycling returns
last year, the company announced as part of activities marking the 35th
    anniversary of Earth Day.

However the company is urging Australians to contribute more
    for an environmentally sustainable future.

“It is estimated that more than 18 million ink cartridges are
thrown away by Australian consumers and businesses each year,” said Graham
Kittle, managing director of Lexmark Australia and New Zealand, “While our
recycling figures provide a great benchmark for this year’s efforts, there is
still ample room for our industry to improve.”

This year marks the third year of the ‘Cartridges for Planet
Ark’ program. As part of the program, Lexmark and many of the world’s other
large printing companies have partnered with Planet Ark and resource recovery
specialist Close the Loop™, to collect and recycle ink cartridges from stores
    and companies throughout Australia.

The public can support the program by taking used cartridges
to participating Australia Post, Officeworks, Harvey Norman, Tandy, Dick Smith
Electronic and Powerhouse outlets. A full list of collection outlets are listed
    at http://www.RecyclingNearYou.com.au

“Lexmark seeks to lead by example and extend the good work
done in the cartridge recycling program throughout all parts of our own
business,” said Kittle. “Every aspect of the organisation needs to be reviewed
in order to look for further environmental improvements.”
