Samsung, HP forge technology tie-up on inkjet printers
South Korea’s high-tech giant Samsung Electronics has forged a technology tie-up with US computer group Hewlett-Packard To Produce new inkjet printers.
Samsung said it would unveil new inkjet printers, based on Hewlett-Packard technology, in the fourth quarter, targetting Asian markets.
HP’s technology transfer aims to strengthen its presence in Asia, it said.
Park Jong-Woo, vice president of Samsung’ printer division, said Samsung picked HP as its partner as the US firm would give Samsung the opportunity to become a top-class global printer maker amid growing competition in the industry. “The tie-up with HP will allow Samsung to strengthen its clout in the inkjet printer sector,” Park said.
Under the deal, Samsung will supply inkjet printers to HP.
