Trust, HP Receives “Most Trusted Company for Privacy” Award
Jan. 2005–TRUSTe, the leading online privacy nonprofit organization, and Ponemon Institute have honored HP with “The Most Trusted Company for Privacy” Award. The award recognizes HP for establishing and enforcing progressive privacy practices that build a high level of consumer trust.
A panel of privacy experts from academia and industry judged 50 eligible American companies that topped the list in a consumer-focused study released in June by TRUSTe and Ponemon, considered the “think tank” in the advancement of responsible information management practices in business and government.
In that survey, the public determined the leading companies in trust and privacy protection. Winners were invited to participate in the awards program, where judges examined the effective and innovative privacy policies being used and applied by HP through its comprehensive privacy program.
“HP ranked high in consumer’s overall perceptions and was able to support its leading position with an aggressive and thorough privacy campaign,” said Fran Maier, president and executive director of TRUSTe. “HP has been active in making privacy a priority in how it interacts with customers and conducts business at large. We applaud their efforts and the importance they place on privacy throughout their organization.”
The Most Trusted Company for Privacy Award exemplifies HP’s belief that privacy and data protection is a human right. Protecting customer privacy is vital to developing and maintaining trusted relationships and is fundamental to HP’s global citizenship objectives.
