TVS-E enters recycled laser toner market

The lucrative Office supplies segment has caught the fancy of TVS-E, a low-price, high-volume computer peripherals player. It is gearing- up to tap the recycled laser toner market in India.

TVS Electronics is making an entry into the laser toner market with the introduction of recycled laser toners in India. With this launch, TVS-E plans to expand its supplies portfolio and gain a strong foothold in the office supplies segment.

A Rs 400 crore market The company is gunning for a three to five percent slice of the domestic laser toner market estimated to be worth Rs 400 crore by the end of 2005.

Selling on price and quality Said S Narendran, general manager Marketing, TVS-E, “Customers, today, have two options—they can either go in for expensive originals or opt for the cheaper but poor quality refills. They often tend to make a trade-off between quality and price. Our recycled toners will provide a value-for-money alternative to those who are looking for a high quality product at a low acquisition cost.” TVS-E claims that every recycled toner will be checked and replaced with new or recycled spares. The company says that recycled toners will be subject to the same stringent quality tests that OEMs perform on new cartridges.

    Focus on cities

Laser toners will be launched across the country with a focus on Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Kolkata and Hyderabad centres. The company has appointed sales executives exclusively for the supplies division in these cities and has set-up a 10-member call centre to educate customers and generate leads for laser toners.
