Oki Data Builds New Printer Plant in Scotland
Tokyo  Nov 2005- Oki Data announced on November 14 that its production subsidiary Oki (UK) Ltd. has moved into a new plant it has just built in Scotland. At the new plant, Oki UK manufactures consumable supplies and options for printers and multifunction printers (MFPs) as well as custom printers for shipment in Europe.
Built on a 49,109m2 site, the new plant has a manufacturing space of 6,000m2, about the same size as the previous facility, and has increased its production capacity by 30% by reducing the process and improving production efficiency.
With the new plant up and running, Oki aims to design an optimal supply chain and reduce costs while meeting a growing demand. The company plans to ship 600,000 units of printers and MFPs in Europe in fiscal 2005.
