    Monday, June 3 – Morning

    7:00
    Registration / Breakfast

    8:00
    Keynote Address
Aftermarket Supplies – the New Mantra
Tricia Judge, International Imaging Technology Council
Aftermarket v. OEM is no longer the supplies mantra.  Intellectual property issues have made strange – but cooperative – bedfellows out of remanufacturers, dealers and the OEMs.  2012 and 2013 provided the marketplace with a host of legal decisions that are changing the industry landscape…and making for great opportunities in the supplies channel

    8:30 – Session 1
    Ink Jet vs. Toner
Dr. Ray Work, Work & Associates
With the announcement by Hewlett Packard of their full width array ink jet print heads in the DeskJet Pro X series printers ink jet can finally produce color prints in the office at up to 70 ppm.  With excellent quality and lower cost than color laser printers ink jet has finally broken through the speed barrier and is expected to compete favorably against toner technology.

    9:15 – Session 2
    Toner Industry Analysis
    Charles Brewer, Actionable Intelligence
An overview of recent key hardware introductions along with an examination of how consumables support the speeds, performance, and operating costs associated with these machines. We will also look the remanufacturing industry’s ability to meet the requirements of recently released equipment.

    10:00
    Morning Break

    10:15 – Session 3
    Ink Jet vs. Toner Statistics
    John Shane, InfoTrends
This presentation will examine the current market size and forecast for marking supplies with a focus on electrophotography and toner for US, Western Europe as well as a worldwide view for developed and developing markets. Forecast for installed base, print volume and consumption of toner supplies. It will further look at the current market share and expectations for OEM vs aftermarket share.

    11:00 – Session 4
    Worldwide Toner Production
    Graham Galliford, GCM
This presentation will examine the worldwide toner manufacturing industry and give details of the structure with analysis of production volumes and distribution patterns including details of some important players. The presentation will also examine the present and future of the industry from both a technological and market viewpoint.

    12:00
    Luncheon

    Afternoon

    2:00 – Session 5
    Specialty Toners
    John Cooper, Toner Research Services
Ever since the early days of electrophotography scientists have been devising dry or liquid toner compositions that could be imaged for novel decorative, commercial or industrial applications. This presentation will explore numerous examples of such toners, some aspects of their compositions and how ink jet may impact their future use.

    2:45 – Session 6
Overview and New Directions of Silica and Metal Oxide External Additives for Toners
    Dr. Robert Johnson, Evonik Corp.
This talk will review the use of fumed silica and fumed metal oxides as an essential external additive component for successful toner formulations.  Also described will be how new trends in toner design go hand-in-hand with ever evolving silica and metal oxide external additive development including wet-process colloidal products.

    3:30
    Afternoon Break

    3:45 – Session 7
    Bioresins for Toner
    Dr. Richard Bopp/Dan Sawyer, NatureWorks
In the past the plastics industry has traditionally relied upon petrochemicals as its primary feedstock. In this presentation we discuss recent advances in NatureWorks Ingeo polylactide technology, its unique combination of environmental attributes, processability and end-use performance that help position this sustainable biopolymer for a promising future in the 21st Century.

    4:30 – Session 8
Compatibles vs. Remanufactured in the HP/Canon Hardware Environment
    Alan Dyer, Hunterhouse Americas
The remanufacturing industry has drifted toward calling a remanufactured product a compatible product over the last 10 years.  The same industry has swiftly condemned “compatible” HP cartridges as “illegal clones”.  A discussion on why not all compatibles are equal and what can be achieved from a 15-year investment in intellectual property and technology.

    5:00 – Session 9
    Networking
    Terry Gorka, The Tiara Group
An interactive session where attendees have the opportunity to present a 5-minute commercial for their company. Participation is on a first come-first served basis.

    6:00
    Reception in Exhibitor Area

    Luncheon

    Afternoon

    2:00 – Session 14
Drying & Blending of Chemically Produced Toners
Dr. Peter van der Wel, Hosakawa Micron BV
The presentation will discuss various downstream processes for Chemically Produced Toner. Possible drying technologies will be presented. After drying the particles often need classification, for which purpose air classification is preferred. And once dried and classified the chemical toner will need a post-blending technology suited for the specific characteristics of this material.
