Seiko Epson to Launch Smart Glasses in April 2014

(Japan Economic Newswire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) TOKYO, Jan. 28 — (Kyodo) _ Seiko Epson Corp. said Tuesday it will launch smart glasses on April 24 that allow users to watch movies and browse the Internet.
The retail price for the Moverio BT-200 smart glasses is expected to be below 70,000 yen.
Epson has been focusing on smart glasses development to take advantage of its advanced optical technology and electronic parts.
The glasses, an improved version of the BT-100 headset launched in 2011, weigh 88 grams and have 960 by 540 pixel display resolution.
The smart glasses are operated with a controller powered by Google Inc.'s Android operating system and are equipped Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity.
