    SCC vs Ricoh

Static Control Components Inc., claims in a lawsuit filed September 23
of this year in U.S. District Court for the Middle District of North
Carolina that its business has suffered because of allegedly defective
toner provided by Ricoh Electronics Inc.

    The
lawsuit claims that earlier this year, Ricoh changed its toner
formulation unbeknownst to Static. Static alleges that Ricoh broke the
terms of its vendor agreement and sold them inferior product that SCC
unwittingly sold to its remanufacturing customers. SCC claims that the
new toner had poor results and caused problems in some of its
customers’ machines, resulting in lost sales and returned product.SCC’s
complaint states that after originally agreeing to work together on the
issues, Ricoh now has refused allow SCC to return the defective toner.Static
Control claims that the company has lost business as a result of
Ricoh’s actions and was forced to absorb costs for dealing with the
defective toner. SCC is seeking a judgment of more than $75,000.
