    HP and Pitney Bowes partner to offer integrated print and mail system

    and Pitney Bowes announced an alliance at the Print 09 trade show on
    September 11 through which Pitney will manage sales of the HP Inkjet
    Web Press for the transactional and trans-promotional print
    markets.Pitney will offer the product as part of the Pitney Bowes
    IntelliJet Printing System, which is used by large volume mailers. The
    system includes the HP T300 Color Inkjet engine, a high-speed Pitney
    Bowes mail finishing system, and a single service and support
    team.“Directly selling, installing and supporting high-speed color
    print and mail production systems is the next logical area for Pitney
    Bowes to continue to build out its customer communications solutions,”
    said Leslie Abi-Karam, Pitney Bowes EVP and president for Mailstream
    Solutions Management, in a statement.

    RR Donnelley, Hewlett Packard in printing deal
    CHICAGO
    – RR Donnelley & Sons Co. and Hewlett Packard Co. said Thursday
    the two companies have agreed to collaborate on developing digital
    printing for inkjet presses.The proposed arrangement calls for RR
    Donnelley’s research and development center to collaborate with the
    inkjet high-speed production solutions unit of Hewlett Packard to
    develop digital printing technologies.

    Products are to be sold under the Hewlett Packard brand.

    The
    two companies, which are drafting formal agreements, initially plan to
    focus on developing magnetic ink character recognition printing for
    high-speed and secure reading of checks by financial institutions.”We
    expect that the combined resources of RR. Donnelley and HP will enable
    the industry to move more quickly toward a future in which digital
    printing provides an even greater opportunity for product innovation
    and more effectively complements proven conventional printing
    technologies,” said Mary Lee Schneider, RR Donnelley’s chief technology
    officer.
