Xerox Canada launches new digital, colour print technology iGen3 developed for US$1B
Xerox Canada Ltd. announced the Canadian launch of its DocuTech iGen3, a digital colour printing technology the company has spent US$1-billion developing, partly through research conducted in Mississauga, Ont.

The iGen3 is a short-run printing technology that allows users to create up to 100 copies a minute. In creating the printer, which uses 85 microprocessors to make up to 270 million calculations per second, Xerox patented 400 new technologies. The iGen3 is expected to retail at around $1-million.

The Printing House Ltd. (TPH) has completed another first in the Canadian printing industry, installing the country’s first Xerox DocuColor iGen3(tm) Digital Production Press. The iGen3, installed last week at TPH’s Bathurst Street head office, is a 100 impression-per- minute press that provides benchmark print speed; image quality that compares favorably to offset; and enhanced paper handling capabilities.   face=Arial Read full Xerox Canada Press Release

The Printing House has had a WebCam set up to chronicle the installation. To visit the webcam, click The Printing House logo, wait for the second window to open (5 seconds) and click “Live web cast”. (it’s much more interesting during working hours).
