Pair charged with stealing $1,000 in ink cartridges

    March, 2005

Two men stole more than $1,000 worth
of printer ink cartridges from a Costco store in Nesconset by stuffing the items
into their clothing, Suffolk police said.
The men, Ray Williams, 51, of
Freeport; and William Wade, 42, of Brooklyn, were seen cutting open packages of
the cartridges in the store on Sunday, police said. Security officers called
police and stopped the men as they were headed out the door.
    Police said
an altercation began when the men were stopped but that ended when police
    arrived and arrested the men.
Burglar’s tools and a hypodermic needle
were found on the men along with the ink, police said.
    The men were each
charged with three counts of fourth-degree grand larceny and possession of
burglar’s tools. Williams got an additional charge of criminal possession of a
hypodermic instrument because of the needle that was found.
    Police said
both men have extensive criminal histories and are suspects in similar incidents
at other stores on Long Island. They are to be arraigned at First District Court
    in Central Islip on Monday.
