Epson Beats Antitrust Claim In Ink Cartridge Patent Row
New York — An Oregon federal judge on Tuesday upheld the enforceability of two Seiko Epson Corp. patents covering ink cartridge technology, undermining an antitrust counterclaim brought by Ninestar Technology Co. Ltd. in ongoing patent infringement litigation.

U.S. District Judge Anna J. Brown granted Epson’s cross-motion for partial summary judgment on Ninestar’s counterclaim, saying Ninestar failed to prove that Epson intentionally sought to deceive the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in order to be granted the patents at issue.
