    OfficeMax Files Lawsuit Over Missing Software

    Naperville-based OfficeMax North America Inc. is suing a former security guard and an Alabama security firm after the office supply company discovered that software was stolen from its McCalla distribution center.

    The 2,506 units of software had a retail value of $852,000, according to the federal lawsuit filed this week in U.S. District Court.The former security guard, 38-year-old Walter Skrobak of Woodstock, has pleaded guilty to one count of interstate transportation of stolen goods and one count of making false statements involving a tax return. He faces up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

    OfficeMax is seeking a return of the money in its lawsuit, which names Skrobak and Security Engineers Inc. of Birmingham as defendants
