New Hamshire USA :Printer Fire Forces School Evacuation
STRATHAM — A small fire was quickly extinguished Tuesday afternoon in an industrial classroom on the second floor at Cooperative Middle School.

Firefighters were dispatched to the school at 100 Academic Way just before 2:30 p.m. for a reported fire in a classroom.

Stratham Police Chief John Scippa said it appeared that a teacher used a fire extinguisher to put the blaze out. Firefighters later said a laser printer caused the fire.

Scippa said students had already been let out of school for the day, leaving only a limited number of students and teachers in the building at the time of the fire. He said there were no injuries.

"It was very much contained to that room, and at no time was anyone really in danger," Scippa said. Scippa said there was no structural damage to the classroom, but a lot of dust was left behind from the extinguisher.

He said those students still at the school during the fire were participating in after-school activities. "In the school environment, we just want to make sure everyone is safe," he said.
