Namibia: Ricoh Reaches Out to Rhino’s Conservation
A NAMIBIAN business plans to start a trust to save the country’s rhinos from being killed by poachers.

Mark Barnard, managing director of Ricoh, on Friday said: "We want our children and grandchildren to see rhinos with horns."

Although Namibia does not yet have a large-scale poaching problem, "it could easily blow over," Barnard said. Neighbouring South Africa is plagued with rhino poachers.

A large rhino with the Namibian flag on its backside on top of Ricoh’s roof drew public attention this week.

According to Barnard, "it is an appetiser for the Ricoh rhino initiative to be launched in September".

The flag is to illustrate that it is a local project. He said the flag was placed on the rhino’s backside for better visibility.
