Patent Shows Canon Might be Entering Into The Drone Market
camera canon drone imaging

A new patent from Canon shows off the schematics for what could be its first endeavor into drone territory.
Filed back in November of 2013, the patent lays out the basic premise of how the drone would move and operate. Specifically, the patent points out how the drone would position itself using GPS coordinates and altimeter, and adjust the image being captured by panning and tilting the onboard camera.
The patent seems vague in its descriptions, so it’s not clear whether this is a patent for a drone itself or just a camera to attach to a drone, but one way or the other, it’s interesting to see that at least one of the two main companies has already planned drone-based imaging systems.
