Headline: Printer shipments in China set for growth

Lyra Research expects Chinese printer shipments to reach 7.7 million this year.

That figure compares with 5.7 million units in 2003 with shipments estimated to reach 9.6 million by 2005. The rise in shipments will also boost domestic demand for toner. Lyra said: “numerous companies have developed toner production facilities in China for domestic use and export.”

The growth in printer shipments is attributed to the rapid pace of China’s industrialisation, projected strong economic growth and its large population of users.
