    • PcRUSH.com Terminated From ITC Investigation; Is VIP Next?

Atman Inc. DBA pcRUSH.com has been terminated from the ITC’s investigation regarding Canon’s complaint over infringing toner cartridges and the photosensitive drum. This is the first respondent in a list of more than 30 companies to be terminated from the investigation. According to Actionable Intelligence, three companies thus far have asked the ITC to drop them as respondents in Canon’s complaint; however, no other companies have been terminated. But on June 26, Canon announced that a patent infringement resolution was reached with Virtual Imaging Products (VIP) in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York and the ITC. If a terminating order comes from the judge, VIP will be the second respondent dropped from the investigation.

Kodak announced that the supplier agreement between Collins Ink and Kodak has concluded, and as such, Collins Ink is no longer an approved supplier of inks and fluids for Kodak Versamark Printing Systems. Collins Ink responded with a statement of its own, saying that Kodak is charging "punitive print head refurbishing surcharges" to Collins Ink customers. Additionally, Collins Ink said, "Kodak asserts that only Kodak can assure customers of being able to supply inks with ‘maximum performance and highest print quality.’ Kodak’s statement is factually incorrect. … Collins has been moving forward with solutions that should help alleviate customers’ concerns about what will happen if and when Kodak finally fails. Collins expects to be able to make additional announcements regarding this within the next few weeks."
