Xerox Seeks Millions in Lowered Tax Assessments in Webster
Webster Town officials confirmed that Xerox is seeking millions of dollars in lowered tax assessments. Xerox is asking the Town board to lower the assessment on its three largest parcels of land.
Webster Supervisor Ron Nesbitt says Xerox is requesting the current assessment of 80.8 million dollars be lowered almost 75 percent to 22 million dollars. That would bring the copier company’s Webster tax bill to just over 2.3 million dollars.
Nesbitt expressed concern saying this would shift the tax burden to residents and other business owners.Nesbitt also pointed out that this request comes just after Xerox received 6.2 million dollars from the state and COMIDA for its new call center.
