CDW-G Delivers Printers to 45 County Offices Throughout California in Less Than 30 Days
VERNON
HILLS, Ill.—Feb., 2006–CDW Government, Inc. a wholly owned
subsidiary of CDW Corporation and leading source of information
technology solutions to governments and educators, today announced
that it was awarded and has fulfilled a $2 million contract to provide
Lexmark T632n laser printers to the California Health and Human
Services Agency . The contract was competitively awarded to CDW-G under
the auspices of the California Department of General Services and in
accordance with state procurement guidelines.
CHHSA administers
state and federal programs for healthcare, social services, public
assistance and rehabilitation. The agency needed new printers that
would integrate with the state’s Child Welfare Services/Case Management
System , a legislatively mandated software application that supports
the state child welfare services program. County social workers
throughout the state rely on CWS/CMS for access to child, family and
other case-related information so that they can make timely decisions
and perform effective case management. In accordance with the state law
requiring the development of a statewide computer system to automate
the functions of county child welfare offices, CHHSA must comply with
CWS/CMS requirements and purchase IT equipment that can be centrally
managed as part of the statewide computer system.
To replace its
legacy printing equipment in 45 county offices around the state, CHHSA
turned to CDW-G to deliver a specialized printing solution that is
compatible with the current statewide IT system. After evaluating
several options from multiple vendors, CHHSA chose to purchase the
Lexmark T632n laser printer from CDW-G because the printer’s
functionality met the specialized, enterprise-wide requirement and
CDW-G provided the “best cost” value to the state.
CDW-G
collaborated with its manufacturer partner, Lexmark, to rapidly deliver
the printers to their installation locations inside the 45 county
offices statewide within 30 days.
“Statewide agencies cannot afford
even one minute of downtime associated with technology purchase,
delivery and integration,” said Chris Rother, CDW-G’s vice president
for education, state and local sales. “Understanding how critical
full-time operation is, CDW-G delivered specialized printers to
specific destinations inside of 45 county offices throughout the State
of California in less than 30 days. The net result is rapid
time-to-value for the agency and seamless service to the citizen.”
The
new Lexmark printers will be used to produce CWS/CMS reports, case
studies and related documents. Each printer has a one-year, on-site
warranty and an extended three-year service and repair warranty.
CDW-G
partners with leading IT companies to deliver more than 100,000
products featuring top IT brands from over 1,000 manufacturers,
providing state and local government customers with best-in-class
products and solutions. -
