Xerox shooting anniversary
Three
years ago Saturday, a robber opened fire inside the Xerox Federal
Credit Union the Xerox campus in Webster. One customer was killed and
another wounded.The robber was dressed in an FBI jacket. Webster police
are still searching for the suspect. Police say they have followed up
on 875 leads in the United States and Canada. They consider 25 of their
leads to be open, most involve suspects who are in jail or awaiting
trial.”It’s been a rollercoaster. Several different times we thought
we were truly on the right track with the right suspect, and then for
one reason or another the suspect has been alibied out, and so it turns
cold,” says Webster Police Chief Gerald Pickering.Friday, balloons were
released at the memorial garden of the Xerox Webster campus for Raymond
Batzel. Batzel, a customer at the bank, died in the shooting.
