Giant tanks arrive at $59M Xerox toner plant in Webster
(oct2006) — Giant tanks are being installed today and tomorrow at the new Xerox toner plant in Webster.
The 16,000-gallon tanks, which weigh about 25,000 pounds each, are the foundation of a new process for making toner at the plant. Cranes will be installing them. The plant will produce emulsion aggregation, or EA, toner, a next generation product that is making its way into Xerox’s products. The toner is chemically grown from the molecular level, rather than crushed and ground like traditional toner. That makes it easier to control, requires less energy to produce and generates less waste, the company says.Xerox broke ground on the project in November. The plant is expected to create 40 new jobs and save 50 others.
