Short Of Cash? No Problem, Fire Up The Inkjet!
Despite, what it says in the doom-laden pages of the Financial Times, it is possible to make real money in Hungary – but it is easier to make fake money. Two young counterfeiters were caught in Veszprém (Fejér county) on Thursday, reports hvg.hu. A couple in Veszprém paid for a car using fake bills, but the salesman spotted the Monopoly money and immediately called the police. The cops quickly traced the two men responsible for the scam, an 18- and a 20-year-old. The pair had been printing Ft 1,000 bills using a computer and printer. The two men have been printing money for two years and chose this denomination as many Ft 1,000 bills are still in circulation without the metal security thread. Whenever they found themselves in a financial pickle, they printed off a few notes. As the counterfeits were good quality, no one noticed until now. The men await trial.
