Florida Senator That Spoke Out Vs. Lenovo and Lexmark Just Got Sanctioned By The Chinese Government. Things are getting wild and crazy in the world of diplomatic tit-for-tat. Florida Senator Marco Rubio is preparing a bill to ban Chinese companies from US capital markets if they engage in spying, human rights abuse or support China’s military, threatening a financial blow as tensions mount over Covid-19 and Beijing’s crackdown on Hong Kong. Florida Senator Rubio who in the past has called out Lenovo and Lexmark on numerous occasions has now been sanctioned by the Chinese Government in a tit for tat retaliation by joining Trump in his latest threats.
The announcement by the Chinese Government is largely symbolic, given that the US official has little financial or legal exposure in China. US-China relations are at a historic low, and the US has stepped up vocal and actual opposition to China’s actions, particularly in Xinjiang, Taiwan and Hong Kong, where Beijing imposed sweeping national security laws this month.
