While we’ve looked at how the wonders of miniaturization have turned the Roland iModela iM-01 into an extremely small 3D printer, here is the Origo 3D Printer that might change the way the world works. Still in the prototype stage, the Origo 3D Printer was specially designed for kids, letting their imagination run free so that they can design and churn out their very own toys. Developed by Artur Tchoukanov and Joris Peels, the computer software involved will obviously cater to the intellectual capacity of little ones, where once they’re done with the initial design, it can be printed out and toyed around with.

Origo is hoping that investors will be able to transform this vision into the real deal, and I believe there is a ready and waiting market out there. After all, Lego did not last this long and remain so popular if kids’ imaginations have faded away despite the way entertainment and games have become more and more passive these days.

Current speculation points toward a price point of around $800, where it will feature a USB port and Wi-Fi connectivity. That’s far cheaper than what most of the other 3D printers cost in the market.
