    Solar-powered Photocopier Hits Market

The RISOLAR Power stand, an advanced printer that uses solar energy, has, for the first time in the history of Liberia, been launched by the RISO Corporation.

RISOLAR has high speed and high volume digital printers, copiers, and solar system.

The RISOLAR power stand was officially launched by a representative of Commerce Minister Miatta Beysolow, Steven T. Mar vie Jr.

RISOLAR is a registered trade mark of RISO Kagaku Corporation and was produced in Shiba, Minato-ku  and Tokyo Japan.

The RISOLAR power stand is mainly intended for the education sector.

The RISOLAR power supply is designed to run the RISO KZ30 to print 1000 copies per day, make an average of 5 masters per day (200 prints per master), has sufficient battery back up for an extra 2 days without sun (i.e. run 3000 prints.)

The machine also provides a solar panel that is placed under full sunlight for at least 6 hours per day as per the instruction.

In a brief interview with Mr. Jason Rose, export manager, he said the RISO KZ30 product is specially made for African countries because of the sunny weather but it has also been used in the United States.

He said the machines have been sold in Johannesburg, South Africa, as well as other African countries.

He said South Africa has bought 50 of the RISO KZ30 power stand.

He said his corporation will market 30 machines in Liberia to educational institutions before selling to individuals for private use.

Mr. Rose said the RISO power stand is 182mmm-257mm-364mm and the original paper is 50g/m-1289/m.

The paper supply capacity is 500 sheets (64mg) and the ink supply is fully automatic (approximately 100 sheets per roll). Some of the futures are Auto based control, Auto process, Auto sleep, Confidential; Paper feed pressure adjustment (4 steps), program printing, scanning contrast (Auto+5 steps), 2up, and RISO 1Quality system, he explained.

He explained further the product is able charge phones or computer batteries and can be used throughout the country provided there is enough sunlight to charge the solar plate.

The power consumption maximum is 110W when it uses 1250mm-555mm-1040mm and when in storage it’s 600mm-655mm-1030mm with a weight of KZ30 which is approximately 52kg (without consumables), he said.

The Export Manager said the machine can be connected to any model of computers in order to get documents ready for printing, and it’s also free from viruses.

Some accessories of KZ30 power stand are; RISO EZ Drum A3, Card Feed Kit, RISO Auto Document Feeder AF-VI, RISO Key Card IV: N,RISO Job Separators IV:NII, RISO Controller 15300 and also RISO network storage Card 512CF,RISO printer Driver for Macintosh and RISO accounting tool, he added.

He said: “Even when printing and the power goes down, one can still be able to print. This solution is perfect for areas with sporadic power issues and provides you with up to 2 days worth of printing without electricity.”He also said large capacity paper trays are up to 280 sheets and can be loaded in respective bins.
