Between January and March 2021, the local law enforcement authorities in Austria confiscated thousands of counterfeit HP toner cartridges after being informed by local HP partners. At the same time, German customs officials at airports with the support of the anti-counterfeiting and Fraud (ACF) teams from HP discovered a shipment of counterfeit computer components from East Asia. “Selling counterfeit components and toner cartridges is an infringement of intellectual property that has serious consequences for the business of sales partners and distributors. Illegal products also offer a poor user experience and can damage the hardware, ”says Susanne Kummetz, Director Commercial and Consumer Channel at HP Germany. “We are proud of the success of our ACF program in collaboration with local authorities and partners. With the support of HP, local authorities in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) have confiscated approximately twelve million counterfeit products from HP over the past five years. The company also performed over 4,500 audits and inspections (CPPAs and CDIs) on partner inventories or suspicious deliveries to customers.
